The joint research unit UMR 912 SESSTIM “Economic & Social Sciences, Health Systems & Medical Informatics” provides different types of training programs, both for initial and ongoing training, in classrooms and through distance-learning (e-learning, where classes are transmitted in real time over the internet).
Training programs cover public health as well as health economics and social sciences applied to health. Most programs are multi-disciplinary and centered primarily on biostatistics, epidemiology, medical informatics, public health, economics, sociology and anthropology. Our training focuses mainly on quantitative and qualitative methods that enable medical information – which is becoming ever-increasingly complex - to be effectively analyzed and covers health issues both in developed and developing countries. Members of SESSTIM teach and train primarily but not exclusively at Aix-Marseille University, more specifically in the Faculty of Medicine and at the Aix-Marseille School of Economics (AMSE).
